Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Fort Myers Redevelopment Agency. The incumbent is responsible for preparing, planning, and developing reports, projects and programs related to the redevelopment of one or more of the City’s community redevelopment districts.  The Agency was established by the City of Fort Myers under the State of Florida Community Redevelopment Act and it is governed by the Mayor and City Council in their role as the Community Development Agency Board of Commissioners. Provides clerical support as needed including but not limited to preparing PowerPoint presentations and agenda items for monthly CRA Board and Advisory Board meetings.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

 Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Tracking and analyzing growth and development patterns within the redevelopment districts.
  • Estimating annual tax increment revenues and assisting in the preparation of annual budgets for the redevelopment districts.
  • Identifying community needs and opportunities through public meetings and interaction with community leaders.
  • Establishing and implementing projects and programs that will lead to the revitalization of the redevelopment districts.
  • Coordinating the acquisition and disposition of real property for redevelopment purposes.
  • Assist with event planning/implementing change.
  • Liaison to the Community Development Division for the preparation of redevelopment district plans.
  • Assist property owners and developers to better understand the Downtown Plan and Smart Code and to assist them throughout the development approval process.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of or become familiar with Florida Redevelopment law, specifically F.S. Chapter 163, the Community Redevelopment Act.

  • Ability to operate necessary equipment, including personal computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and other standard office equipment.

 

 Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a degree in Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in planning, community redevelopment, commercial banking or related work; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.

Work performed is primarily:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
