Letter from Cheri Donohue, Temple Terrace City Council Member, to the House Local, Federal and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee of the House State Affairs Committee on HB 9 (LaMarca) / March 4, 2019:
My City is undergoing a transformation due to the benefits and structure of a CRA. A blighted shopping center will soon become a mecca for new residents and businesses and will infuse new life into our City founded in 1926.
Please recognize that CRAs immediately take local tax dollars and put them to work locally! No State monies are involved!
Cities and Counties are well aware of the rules and regulations and with the exception of a scant number have been well run utilizing those rules and regulations to the benefit of its citizens. To phase out all CRAs is to put a stop to real progress and to thwart the efforts of local government.
This move to suppress Home Rule is not needed nor appreciated by those of us working hard to move our cities forward.
Please vote NO on HB9
