Economic Development and Special Projects Manager

SALARY: $68,556.80 – $105,393.60 Annually

WORK HOURS: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8:00AM – 5:00PM

This position requires an individual to manage the planning, marketing, and research activities aimed at growing existing businesses, creating employment opportunities and implementing the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) program.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Acts as liaison between the City and the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Organization, and the business community.
Collects and analyzes data for the purpose of conducting economic development activities.
Manages economic development projects and programs to support the industrial, commercial, and retail base of the City.
Makes recommendations to promote a successful economic development program.
Guides the implementation of the Community Redevelopment Master Plan.
Conducts research on economic, social, and physical factors affecting growth in the district and reports on findings.
Researches economic, social and physical factors affecting growth in the CRA district and maintains market and related information.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Economic Development, or related field, supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
