Description – This position is an integral part of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). Under limited supervision, the Economic Development Manager serves as the primary contact for economic development matters related to business development, business recruitment and business expansion opportunities. The Economic Development Manager manages the development, implementation and evaluation of economic development goals, objectives, policies and procedures; monitors and evaluates local and regional economic trends; develops programs to retain existing businesses and attract businesses; implements and monitors strategies incorporated within the economic development element of the comprehensive plan; plays an integral role in working in collaboration with private corporations, agencies and key stakeholders to encourage investment; develops and implements marketing strategies to attract businesses and identified clusters; participates in economic development forums; acts as a liaison between the business community and municipal representatives to assess, enhance and create economic development initiatives. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- Identifies and monitors legislation and regulatory policies that impact economic development
- Researches grants, incentives, financial resources and tools to support economic development goals and objectives
- Manages the “Business First” Initiative and Micro Business Loan Program; Serves as municipal representative for the Foreign Trade Zone Program and Seaport Training Initiative
- Develops and implements workforce development training opportunities
- Assists in preparing and forecasting budgetary needs for economic development programming
- Develops and tracts performance measures focused on economic development
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economic Development or directly related field and six (6) years of extensive experience in economic development or any equivalent combination of experience and additional education or training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this work; Master’s Degree is preferred; Training and certification from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is desired; Candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills. Must possess a Florida Driver’s License.

- Knowledge of Florida Statutes regarding Community Redevelopment Agencies
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office products

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to present information to upper management and the public
- Ability to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines
